“What is NoDaysOff? What does NoDaysOff represent?” I’ve been asked these questions often. Two years ago, as a result of these questions, I sat down and wrote the mission and values of the NoDaysOff brand.
The mission of the NoDaysOff lifestyle brand is to inspire and motivate people to push towards their goals and ambitions. I want the brand’s values to be definitive guiding principles on chasing your goals and achieving your ambitions. Essentially, we want to guide and put you on the path to success.
I have always been fascinated by successful people: great sports people, inspiring business people, brilliant leaders, the list is extensive. I have always thought that what they do is magical. They are inspiring!
I also want to be successful in my field so my hunger for success led to my curiosity. How does an individual become successful?
People are not born with all the natural talent and abilities that will make them great. Aside from some physical attributes that may give an athlete an advantage in a particular sport, everyone can achieve world-class performance through applying a core set of fundamental principles regardless of their chosen field – business, music, sports, etc.
I found similar patterns in the principles that had been applied by successful people from different fields. I identified a core set of these principles – that I felt were most valuable – and used them to form the NoDaysOff brand values.. This set of principles, if applied, will increase the chances of success regardless of the situation.
The definitive NoDaysOff values are: Consistency, Long Term Mindset, Growth Mindset, Resilience, Belief, Passion, and Action Bias.
The NoDaysOff Values:
Stick with a course of action once you’ve decided on it. This is the difference between success and failure. It is easy to be great but harder to be consistent. Repetition matters. Everyone wants to make progress, and there is only one way to do this: consistently put the work into your Grind. The goal you are trying to achieve is just an event — something that you cannot totally control or predict. But the consistency in your Grind is what makes that event a reality.
Long Term Mindset
Making any real positive change in your life takes time. Results do not come quickly or easily and there will always be setbacks. To reach them you need to reprogramme your mind to think long term. Thinking long term enables you to push through any short term pain or plateaus that may impede your progress. Understand the concept of patience by understanding time’s role in the natural progression and processes of all living things. If you can develop the capacity to understand this, you will make great strides in short-circuiting the “I want it now” mentality. While there’s nothing wrong with wanting something to occur faster, it’s important you don’t make that your constant modus operandi.
A growth mindset means that you believe that your most basic abilities can be developed. Intelligence in anything can be developed. You have a desire to learn and therefore the tendency to embrace challenges, persist in the face of setbacks, see effort as the path to mastery, learn from criticism, and find lessons and inspiration in the success of others. As a result, you can reach higher levels of achievement. This will give you a greater sense of free will.
With resilience, you have the ability to properly adapt to stress and adversity can come in the shape of family or relationship problems, health problems, or workplace and financial stressors, among others. You demonstrate resilience when you can face difficult experiences and rise above them with ease. Resilience is not a rare ability; in reality it is found in the average individual and it can be learned and developed by anyone.
Self-doubt and lack of self-belief are your biggest enemies. You have to believe that you can! You need to develop an unshakable belief in yourself and the achievements you pursue. Learn that you are more capable and more tolerant of discomfort than you think.
The strongest may survive but it is the passionate that will thrive. Your passion and your purpose must be greater than your challenges. To be successful you have to work harder, learn more, practise longer, lead better, smile more, and love deeper. Passion pushes you one step further. Passion is an emotion that comes from within you. It is your enthusiasm, your zeal, your drive, and your motivation. Your success comes not from what you do, but how well you do it – your passion.
Lots of people come up with interesting ideas to pursue, but planning or merely mentioning what one will do is different to taking action on what one would have planned or said they would do. You have to do more than just the talking and planning. Develop the “Just Do It” attitude as you are more likely to take action immediately or shortly after you generate your ideas. As the old adage goes: “actions speak louder than words”.
Two years after coming up with the NoDaysOff values I strongly believe they are still valid and unwavering.
January, the first month of the year recently ended. At the beginning of the year some of you would have set goals, or resolutions, for the new year. At this point, you may have not gained as much traction on the goals you set as you’d have liked. We are only one month into the year, there are eleven more months to go. There is still time (long term mindset). Do not give up.
Ask yourself which of the values am I breaking? Try and align each of your goals with the seven NoDaysOff values.
Make this year count! Be bold and never settle!
